Dr. Mensa Otabil, the Motivational Speaker said, Ghana will have no benefited if they sell crude oil without adding value to it.
Ghana can gain even more and benefits from the crude oil if they should plan sensibly.
He added, “…Crude oil has some value, but its greatest value comes out when it is processed and refined”.
Almost 6,000 different products can be made from crude oil, so we have to utilize our sources to gain undeveloped products. That is some of the information I want to share with the Ghanaians, Dr. Mensa Otabil said.
Some of the products include which we can get from crude oil after refining include, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), lubricating oils, paraffin wax, tars, petrochemicals, fuel oils, asphalt, diesel, gasoline, jet fuel and kerosene.
He added, if you sell a barrel of crude oil, it’s simply meant you sell 6,000 undeveloped products, giving chance to someone to develop 6,000 products and gets benefited from it.
He said, there are a total of 25 million people living in the West African countries and consumes about 1,800,000 tons of refined petroleum products yearly.
Ghana is currently producing about 100,000 barrels of crude a day. But last year in June it was 115,000 barrels per day.
