
An independent Presidential candidate in the 2012 general elections, Jacob Osei Yeboah has called on the nation and the members to calm down and stop criticizing the government over the fall in the country’s currency.
Jacob Osei Yeboah popularly known as “JOY”, in an interview with Radio Gold says, the fall of cedi should be looked into a higher level.
Ghanaian Cedi fell down over the last few months when compared to the American dollar.
The dollar as suddenly increase and move further from Cedi, which is already struggling against some other foreign currency.
This thing has already put pressure on the business sector of the country.
The Bank of Ghana (BOG) is hoping to revive the Cedi, within a couple of days, with some new plans.
The Bank of Ghana (BOG) stated that some of the rules related to governing the operations of Foreign Exchange Accounts (FEA) and Foreign Currency Accounts (FCA) will be announced from 5th February, 2014.
It is also announced for the exporters to export to their local banks within 60 days, the failure to do so will be penalized.
Such move will be in measure to check the Cedi reduction will overload public sector workers, said Secretary General of the TUC, Kofi Asamoah while talking with Radio Ghana.
Most of the public figures and some former politicians have blamed John Mahama management for the fall in the Cedi.
They believed that, if the Government has taken right decisions, this situation has not been happening.
The only independent presidential candidate in the 2012 elections has requested the nations to stops blaming the government instead find the solutions to the economic downfall.
Jacob Osei Yeboah also gives assistance to the government to take some serious decisions to arrest the situation.
He added, if a country sees an increase in Cedi, then Mahama management has to take some serious measures to maintain it at one level.
