The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be holding a crunch meeting related to the National Council meeting today, to discuss some important and serious matter that has been affecting the party in the past some months.
The main agenda is to discuss about the venue for the party approaching National Conference to select National Executives, scheduled in March on 1st, 2014.
Currently the party is confused on the issues, whether to concentrate or distribute the venue for the all-important exercise, to know who is doing the right thing at the moment.
NPP’s Director of Elections, Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah, who confirmed the National Council meeting said, the council is not in haste about the number of issues. Most important and main key discussions of the meeting are how to conduct the National Executive’s election.
The National Executive Committee is slightly lower than the National Council is holding elections in 10 different regions across the country after seeing all issues involved.
Mr Martin Agyei revealed that, are we able to GH¢1.2million ($12 billion) to run this election at only in one region, or we need far less amount to conduct the election in the particular region.
He added, the news about NPP that is broke is just a gossip.
The debate is now, how to use this money, in all the elections to be accomplished from constituency to regional level, because NPP don’t use to borrow money for their exercises.
As far as party calculations is concerned, the total cost will be GHC1.2 million to centralized exercise, while to decentralization, it will cost us GHC 250,000 for a similar exercise. But we are having the same results.
There is nothing being changed in the party so far, and the National Elections Committee was going on as scheduled to organize elections.
