The year 2014 is just few days away from now, with people hoping that Ghana may increase in economic growth by next year 2014.
In point to that, Asiedu Nketia, the General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), express his views while talking with Citi News, he said we have a great expectation from the year 2014.
Asiedu Nketia said, we are expecting that by the year 2014 the utility prices will be kept low, the reason for this, we have to come back to usual high figures of economic growth.
Asiedu Nketia views came immediately after it is announced by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) that there is an increase in prices of water and electricity by 6.8% and 9.7% respectively, effective from January 1.
Asiedu Nketia explains that 2013 was a difficult year for the nation, but he is hopeful that the country will progress next year.
If the gas plant starts working by the year 2014, we will be able to save the utility pricing.
He stated, we are working on gas infrastructure, once we installed it we will manage to pump more oil for sale, and then sell the gas, just to adjust the balance in our revenue inflow.
Once we will solve these problems, control of prices, we will increase the rate of economic growth.
