Peoples National Convention (PNC) is suggesting some new investment to support the farmers ahead of Farmers Day tomorrow.
Bernard Mornah, General Secretary of the PNC said it is not just to celebrate a holiday; we have to take some positive steps towards it and raise some funds to maintain agriculture in our country.
The National Farmers Day is a day to honour our hard working farmers in this field by the government. The farmers who have really worked hard in this field to improve the agriculture sector in the country.
This year’s celebration will be held at Sogakope in the South Tongu District in the Volta region.
The theme for this year’s event is, “Reducing Post-Harvest losses for Sustainable Food Security and Nutrition.”
The farmers who have really worked hard in this field will receive national honours for their hard work.
Bernard Mornah talking to the Joy News requested to all Ghanaians that, at least we should all sacrifice a day’s salary to raise the capital for the fund.
He added, the farmers have supported Ghanaians with the food needs over the years, so it’s time to do something for them, support them in a way to increase their yields with the help of technology.
Agriculture is our main source for economy because Ghana mainly depends on agriculture products like, Cocoa and some other products.
The General Secretary of PNC further informed that with increase in agriculture industry also help Ghana to reduce the imports from other countries.
We are working on policies that will be useful to the farmers in the nearby future and definitely help our nation, he added.
