A previous Press Secretary to Ex-President Kufuor, Mr Kwabena Agyepong said unity will be the key if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has to win the election in the 2016.
He added, in order to get unity among the members within the party we have to bring professionalism among the members, and start a campaign that will convince the Ghanaians so that NPP can come into power in 2016 elections.
He talks to the media where he officially announced that he will be contesting for the General Secretary Post from the NPP in next general Elections.
One of the main questions for the party is, who will lead the party in the upcoming 2016 General Elections, said Mr. Agyepong. Anyone who comes out as the winner must have the ability to unite the party for upcoming Elections.
He added, party must take some serious step about those who are circulating among people that NPP belong to Akan people. How that is possible about the party that unite the whole nation only belong to Akon people.
Mr Agyepong added, NPP has done a lot about this by making sure that north people will get represented in different positions in the party.
We have to admit the sacrifices made by UP tradition leaders to make sure that the party will get full support from the northern parts of Ghana.
If I will become the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, I will make sure to bring some new ideas and generate some new strategies to address those observations and rumours.
Mr Agyepong became the Communications Director during the NPP presidential primaries in 1998 under the supervision of the Akufo-Addo campaign team and also played a main role in party’s successful 2000 elections.
Later, in 2001 he became the Press Secretary to President Kufuor but resigned in May 2006, but still keeps himself busy with the party in both national and international assignments for the party and the state.
On 6 March, 1962 he was born in Kumasi to the late Justice Kwadwo Agyei Agyepong and Mrs Margaret Agyepong. The young politician holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (1986) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Master of Science (MSc) Degree in Water and Environmental Engineering from the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom.
