President Mahama warns FIFA and the Egyptians authorities that they will be responsible if anything cause harm to the members of Ghana Black Stars, officials or the Ghanaian supporters in Cairo, Egypt for the World Cup playoff 2nd leg.
President Mahama is worried about the current political condition in the North African Country that really worries the President about the safety of the Players and the fans.
President Mahama added, although they have confirmed, but FIFA and the Egyptian authorities will be answerable for any harm that is caused to any of our officials, players or fans.
He reminded the Muslims to pray for the Ghana Black Stars in the Mosque on Friday, and Christian should also pray on Sunday in Church for the success of Ghana Black Stars when they will face Egypt in the final playoff.
The President gives this statement when Joseph Yamin, the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports and GFA Vice President Fred Crentsil visited him on Thursday to guide him about the latest security situation in Egypt.
Ghana FA requested two times to FIFA to change the venue for the return leg from Cairo to another venue due to political disorder in the country, but FIFA maintains their decision to hold the match in Cairo as scheduled.
Egyptians authorities have made sure to President Mahama about the security of their players, officials and fans ahead of the final battle between the Ghana Black Stars and the Egypt on Tuesday World Cup playoff.
Egyptians authority has already informed the Ghanaian officials about the detailed security plan about the match.
He added, Ghana’s National Security team and officials of the Ministry of Youth and Sports are already in Egypt to see all the security preparations made for this match just to make sure that our members will be fully safe.
We have received a complaint from the Ghanaian side that make some worries to the authorities about fans using of laser lights on the face of opposing goalkeepers, but authorities give assurance that the security of the ground will prevent this in the upcoming game.
Joseph Yamin, the Deputy Sports Minister said in a statement that the Ghanaian fans will travel to Egypt through a hired flight and will immediately return after the match ends.
Ghana Black Stars are just a single step away from their third straight World Cup appearance if they conquer the Egyptians.
Currently, the Ghana Black Stars are in Istanbul, Turkey for the final preparation before the final clash on 19 November at the Air Defence Stadium in Cairo.
