Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien will be in Ghana today for his father’s funeral which will be held on this weekend. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has given him an unlimited break from the club for his stay in Ghana. Michael Essien father James Essien, is a former player of Hearts of Oak, who passed away on 2 September in Ghana after being ill for a long time. The funeral will be a three day traditionally organised way which will be held in Gomoa Odoben the hometown of Michael Essien which is located in the central region of Ghana. Ghana FA members together with President Kwesi Nyantakyi, and some other high class people and officials will make their presence felt at the funeral of Michael Essien father James Essien. Kwesi Appiah, Ghana Black Stars Coach and some other technical team member will also be present at the funeral to support the midfielder at this difficult time. It is believed that Michael Essien has a friendly relationship with his father until a man named Dela Ackumey purposely force his father to sign some documents which lead the Ghana international to the court. The case is still in the court with some sources mentioned that Michael Essien has already spent some millions of dollars in this legal battle. This causes a problem with a relationship with his father and the news circle around media until Michael Essien forgave his father. But, the Chelsea star has been in continuous contact with his father before he passed away on 2 September.
