Sumana Bagbin, former popular Leader of NDC, refused the government’s actions to stop corruption in the country and stated that ample of steps are yet to take.
He said there is yet need of strong political leadership to cope with corruption which has increased progressively over the years.
Sumana Bagbin expressed frustration at government’s management in an investigation report of the actions of the Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Agency (GYEEDA).
A committee announced by the government to conduct the investigations, mentioned some executives for complicity in shaded contracts and ordinary stealing and suggested their prosecution.
The report also suggested the withdrawal of some agreements with service provider under GYEEDA.
Although a long time has passed when it was submitted to the president but there is no action taken at all.
Sumana Bagbin it has taken a long time for government to action on the report.
When he asked that if Ghana has enough strong political leadership to cope with corruption he said, I have not seen it at all and the system and the manner the government planned has surprised all of us.
Sumana Bagbin, who is one of the team members of the Wise Men in charge of government special projects, told a journalist that the steps by the ministerial board to submit its answers to the presidency were itself complicated.
In his view, “It was even incorrect for that type of report to be directed straight to the presidency, so the president has a trouble and has to hire another board to look into the report”. It is proved better if the problem was investigated by the police with the Attorney General’s Department, he further said.
Sumana Bagbin, emphasized that if it was solved in the way he recommended, Ghanaians would have gotten result long time ago and the criminals would have acquired their punishment.
