Dr Foster Abu Sakara, the 2012 presidential nominee of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has recommended the electorate to be careful with the elections they make because they are responsible to the society.
Speaking at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences opportunity on the topic “Political Accountability and Good Governance,” Abu Sakara told representatives arrived into offices through the constituency, and it was very important they (electorate) wanted responsibility from them as well.
“The electorate are accountable to the society and should be blamed if they make the wrong choice for the country,” Abu Sakara told.
Abu Sakara told Ghana was gifted with rich usual crystal capitals such gold, diamond, oil, cocoa, manganese and bauxite, a view that exceeded other countries on the African land.
Abu Sakara told it was, so, authoritative for any leader chosen into workplace to use the nation’s capitals for growth since there was no foundation to fail.
“Any politician, who fails to use the rich natural resources available for the development of the country, should be held accountable,” Abu Sakara stated additional.
Abu Sakara also called for the passageway of the Right to Info Bill to allow the public to have entree to any info pertaining to the governance of the country.
Mr Vitus Azeem, Executive Director, Ghana Honesty Inventiveness, told lack of party-political answerability and weak governance fueled dishonesty, adding that favouritism, politicization and pressure might also be the reason of serious damage to the national economy.
Abu Sakara told expert collections such as accountants, attorneys, presses and other public society associations must see themselves as playing a regulator role and providing a continued and trustworthy management in request for political answerability and decent governance.
