Finalists of the Miss Ghana 2013 pageant, together with Hip life artiste turned Pastor Lord Kenya, and the Lesedi Foundation have held a day’s mentoring and personality development session with internees of the Accra Borstal Institute.
The Lesedi Foundation is a non-profit association set up to contribute to the positive transformation of the lives of society’s defenceless and marginalized.
A beautiful sight to observe, the finalists took the inmates through one on one recommending sessions, sharing personal and interrelated life changing stories with them.
For most of the qualifiers, it was a first time experience interacting with the inmates but the queens keenly listened to each individual and offered some advice whilst answering a broad spectrum of questions.
The ladies have boarded on similar projects under the umbrella of the Miss Ghana 2013 Foundation. The latter is an innovation introduced by the local franchise holders of the pageant to ensure sustainability of all charity work commenced by any of the queens in a given year.
All newly topped queens, their runner-ups and regional queens have the opportunity to offer on social projects under the Foundation.
Areas covered by the Foundation contain but not limited to Children, the Aged, Education/Mentorship, Infant Maternal Mortality and the Environment.
The Miss Ghana 2013 finals will be held at the Banquet Hall next week Saturday July 20.
