Tensions have escalated between US and Iran over sabotage attack on four ships in UAE as United Stated has now accused Iran of backing the attack.
A team of US military experts has examined the destroyed ships and discovered a large hole in each of them. They believed that some explosives caused these holes. However, there are no signs of Iran’s involvement in the attack though it borders with Strait of Hormuz. Most of the world’s oil transported through Strait of Hormuz. Earlier, Iran also warned to close the strait if it banned to use the waterway.
Earlier on Sunday, four commercial ships were attacked at 06:00 (02:00 GMT) in UAE territory at the Gulf of Oman. The sabotage attack occurred close to Fujairah port and Saudi Arabia claimed that two of its tankers had severely damaged. According to Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih, one out of four tankers was also transporting oil to US customers.
One of the damaged tankers was Norwegian-flagged vessel known as Andrea Victory. Iran has assured to carry out full investigation over the ships targeted attack. The US has also threatened Iran to remain ready for bad consequences if they will do anything wrong. However, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that they will defeat the enemy.
