Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has urged protesters to remain vigilant as troublemakers can try to infiltrate the protests rallies to create chaos.
Students, lawyers, and journalists participated in the protests against the president.
He warned about the danger in a letter published by a local news agency. The 82-year-old president also commended the protesters for peacefully expressing their viewpoint. Meanwhile, he also requested people to remain careful of interference by domestic and foreign troublemakers.
Mr. Bouteflika has ruled Algeria for 20 years and last month he also declared to seek a fifth term. After having a stroke in 2013, he rarely visited public places. His decision to seek for a fifth term has further sparked a wave of protest in towns and cities across the country.
Moreover, students, lawyers, and journalists participated in the rallies against the president. Other huge demonstrations scheduled for Friday.
Mr. Bouteflika tried to convince the public by saying that he would quit early if re-elected, however, the demonstrations have continued. Nowadays, the president is in Switzerland hospital for routine medical tests.
