The Hybrid Power Adapter of Dell is a smart way of keeping your laptop running at times you are not near to any wall outlet, but several of the models are causing a security risk. The PC maker is recalling versions of the combo battery bank and power brick that were manufactured at around January 2017 and March 2017 later than they received 11 reports about them exposing and breaking their internal components, which posed of a shock risk. In the US, approximately 8,900 of the adapters are affected, in addition to a further 475 in Canada.
You can check out if you are among the affected if you notice the manufacturing code CN-05G53P – LOC00 – XXX – XXXX – AXX (where X is simply any number) printed on the back. The affected adapters were sold through both Dell’s website plus Microcenter, Amazon and rest of the internet retailers.
Dell keeps on selling the devices’ later versions and at this moment, free replacements are available for those people who were affected by the recall, therefore, you cannot think of yourself as being stuck in case you approve of the approach by the company towards portable power. Still, this seems to be a somewhat unusual recall, while, and it reminds the users that that added complexity can indicate added safety threats.
