Poland’s security services have arrested a Chinese businessman and a Polish over spying charges. Both of the detainees employed in telecoms with Chinese national, Wang Weijing works for the Huawei Company.
Huawei is aware of the situation and also looking over the matter. Nowadays, Huawei is facing inquiry over its links to the intelligence services of China.
Earlier, the company’s chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou and the daughter of its founder also held in Canada last month. She has to face deportation to the US for breaking Iran sanctions.
A spokesman from security services further revealed that both individuals arrested in Poland on Tuesday. They have to face a lengthy investigation. A source has confirmed that a Huawei employee Wang Weijing or Stanislaw Wang arrested but not charged.
The LinkedIn profile of Mr. Wang shows him a sales director at Huawei firm who has also served as a representative at China’s embassy in Poland from 2006-11.
A spokesperson for Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ISA), Stanislaw Zaryn informed that Mr. Wang’s custody doesn’t have any connection with the company he works for.
Piotr D was a previous employee of the country’s security services. Polish media also said that Piotr D left Poland’s internal security agency (the ABW) over corruption charges, but never officially charged.
