Nigeria ‘cattle thieves’ kill police officers
In north-western Nigeria, for the last many years suspected cattle thieves have killed at least 17 police officers in different deadly attacks.
In Zamfara the armed cattle attackers attack at the villagers and kill them and steal away cattle that lead to the patrol police operations.
On Thursday one police officer was reported to be killed by the attackers during the encounter near village of Birnin-Magaji. Police of Nigeria continued its search operation as the result of that dead bodies of the sixteen other police officers were found from different places, more than one hundred policemen were killed and many others were rescued during the search operation, hundreds of live stock was also recovered from the cattle thieves. .
Multiple security challenges were of a great challenge for the security personnel, police and other security such as air force and the troops. They are continually trying to tackle the situation for the last few months. In several attacks in the North-east Nigeria hundreds of soldiers has been killed in their base by the cattle thieves.
The government is trying hard to protect the villagers in the Zamfara state from the deadly attackers and to put down such attacks. Hence there are general elections soon to be start in February 2019 so it would be better for the security agencies to control the situation before hand.
