The national celebration of the 2019 Farmers’ Day is being scheduled at Tamale on December 7, 2018. Theme of this year’s celebration is “Agriculture, Moving Ghana Beyond aid”.
As government of Ghana aims to plan improving the agricultural sector for the farmers this year.
Farmers Day will serve as the platform for the local regional and national farmers to further enhance the agricultural productivity in 2019 and 2020.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Information Minister said that the theme of the Farmers Day is the promise of the government to promote the agriculture.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah explained that the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) program earlier introduced last year will be further enhanced to increase agricultural productivity.
Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) program will be expand further in terms of the kinds of inputs for the agricultural methods and the agricultural products to boost production. Also enable the farmers to easily access the international agriculture market. It will be particularly focused in 2019 to improve the export and to possibly reduce the import. Also to laid stressed to make agriculture of Ghana beyond aid of the other countries and to remove the dependency in the terms of technicians and export of seeds and equipments.
