Mr Emmanuel Kofi Nti, the Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), has advised the people to do the regularly exercise to keep a healthy heart. He said that by engaging oneself in regular exercises can helps the heart muscles to be more well-organized and able to pump blood through the vessels to all parts of the body.
He said that regular workout results in a healthy heart that pushes out additional blood with each beat, allowing it to beat slower and keep ones blood pressure under the control. Mr Emmanuel Kofi Nti revealed this at health walk and screening event in Accra on Saturday to mark the World Heart Day, a day set aside to move up consciousness on cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
The annual event, which takes place on September 29, was also to let people know all over the world that heart diseases and stroke were the world’s main causes of death, which claim 17.3 million lives per year. The theme of the event was “For My Heart, For Your Heart, For All our Hearts,” this year’s celebration seeks to catch the attention of the public on what activities and choices they could make to stay a healthy heart.
There were so many participants who participate in walk like National Cardiothoracic Centre (NCTC) of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Ghana Heart Foundation, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service and Vodafone embarked on a nine-kilometre walk and participated in aerobics.
Mr Emmanuel Kofi Nti, who has been appointed as an Ambassador of this year’s celebration, he asked the people to make it a main concern to go for medical checks regularly to stay healthy, work hard and also pay taxes to help in developing the country.
