Ronald Koeman, the manager says that the Everton midfielder, Ross Barkley has next weekend until the end of the Premier League season to sign a new contract or he will be sold.
Last month, the 23-year-old England international, Barkley was warned by Koeman that with a year left on his deal he could be sold. On Friday, Everton will face Watford before finishing their Premier League campaign at Arsenal on Sunday, 21 May.
Koeman says, “Either he accepts the contract or we sell the player. But if you need so much time then you have doubts – I like to work with players who like to stay.” He added that the Everton board had tried “for a long time” to get Barkley to sign and were already looking at replacements in attacking positions.
The Dutchman says, “We don’t wait till August – next weekend we need an answer.” This season, Ross Barkley has scored 4 goals and provided 8 assists in 34 Premier League appearances.
