Derek Walcott Noble laureate Derek Walcott died at the age of 87 at his home in in St Lucia. He was ill from a long time ago.
He was the greatest poet of Caribbean and number of people regarded this statement including poets that Derek was best ever in the history.
In his life he writes A Green Night: Poems 1948 – 1960 and his epic work, Omeros, which draws on Odyssey and Homer’s Iliad.
In 1992 he won the Nobel Prize for Literature and in 2011 Eliot Prize for Poetry. He had also won many other literary awards throughout his lifetime.
The Poetry Society has described his death as a very sad and terrible news.
