The Electoral Commission of Ghana has appealed to the New Patriotic Party government to pay its full budgetary apportionment for 2016.
The Deputy Chair of the Electoral Commission, Operations, Amadu Sulley, has lamented that providers and service providers for the Electoral Commission are owed many sums of money.
Government reserved a total sum of GHS1.2billion for the 2016 polls, but 3 months after the polls, the full payments are yet to be made to the Electoral Commission.
We were certain that by the end of the day we would get it, but up till now we have not been capable to get everything. So some of our members who had assurance in us did it with the expectation that they would be paid at the end of the day, but we are quiet waiting for that money, he told media, March 17.
He said the Electoral Commission was confident that government would soon pay the funds but any further intervals would not be pleasant.
