Ugandan football team has received a timely boost as members of Ugandan parliament have agreed to donate from their salaries to help the team in their pursuit of AFCON 2017 trophy. Football federation of Uganda demanded 2 million dollars for the tournament but was only awarded with $540,716.
According to the reports, each member of the parliament will donate $150 dollars for the football team. MP’s of Uganda will potentially raise $58,451 for the team.
The news was broken by the speaker of the parliament who said told that every Member of Parliament will donate some amount and he (himself) will travel to Gabon with the cheque.
This news will please the Ugandan faithful as their nation qualified for the highest continental accolade after 39 years. Gabon can prove to be the Dark Horses of the cup with the likes of Aubameyang in their ranks.
The Cranes are currently in UAE where they are scheduled to play current AFCON champions in a friendly in their bid to prepare for the upcoming cup.
