Marwan Mohsen, the Egypt striker says the Pharaohs do not fear any team at the 2017 AFCON. Egypt has been placed in Group D for the AFCON 2017 along with Ghana, Uganda and Mali. Egypt has stood the champion for 7 times.
The striker is expected to lead Egypt’s attack in Gabon. Marwan believes they have tried and tested players to make a huge impact and win the title for 8th time. Putting into his words, “Our group in the African Cup is very difficult but Egypt is able to win the title if we made a strong start with positive results.”
Egypt is carrying out pre-tournament training at Cairo, and the Ahly striker Mohsen says that Egypt doesn’t fear the big teams in the tournament especially as the current squad has previously defeated the heavyweights like Nigeria and Ghana.
On Sunday, the player grabbed the headlines as a goal scored by him led to Egypt’s 1-0 win over Tunisia in a friendly at Cairo International Stadium.
The 27-year old player says that, “Tunisia match was the best preparation for the African Cup. The technical staff and the players are fully concentrated for the competition. I am happy to score in the friendly match, but I don’t seek personal achievement.”
He further added that Egypt’s absence from the African Cup in recent editions made the fans eager for restoring glories. Moreover, the current squad is experienced enough to deal with any circumstances during the Cup finals. Egypt will start their campaign against Mali on 17th of January.
