Montie 3 convicts
The two Ghanaian political parties, Progressive People’s People (PPP) and the People’s National Convention (PNC) have condemned President John Mahama in separate press conferences over his decision to pardon the Montie 3 convicts using his constitutional powers under the article 72 of constitution.
The parties made these statements after President Mahama announced the remission of three criminals, Salifu Maase otherwise known as Mugabe, Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako Gunn and on Monday, 21 August who were sentenced to jail for four months and were also fined Ghc10, 000 each by the Ghana’s Supreme Court for allegedly threatening the judges.
The General Secretary of PPP, Atik Mohammed signed the statement on behalf of his party and said despite the fact that they agree with the constitutional powers given to the President to acquit sentenced people, it would have been exceptional in the event that it had been practiced in the collective benefit of the country.
This action is showing that any criminal belongs to NDC is not a criminal and he should be pardoned because he is a NDC member and he has superiority over other ordinary Ghanaians.
He proceeded with that there are a great many innocent detainees in Ghanaian prisons who similarly require the President Mahama to go to their bail however tragically they are not lucky enough since they are not sympathizers of the Mahama-led NDC.
