GCPP’s Presidential Candidate, Dr. Henry Lartey
Dr. Henry Lartey, who is a presidential aspirant of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), has stated that he is against those who are supporting the requests to President Mahama to grant pardon to Montie three.
He said, all the supporters of Montie 3 are ignorant of politics, laws and democracy. They are like blind person.
He expressed his disappointment on deputy ministers who signed the appeal pardoning jailed trio, expressing that, they do not have knowledge about the right to speak freely and its points of confinement.
He mentioned that according to the Section 19 (3) of the International Civil and Political Rights there is some limits in freedom of speech, this article guides you about confinements, if they don’t get that, they should need to thoroughly read it.
In an exclusive interview with Nyankonton Mu Nsem, the Presidential Candidate told host that it’s senseless for anybody to approach the president Mahama to pardon the jailed trio after they had undermined the lives of the high court judges. It’s very lenient, that he only set four months jail to the trio.
According to him, Montie 3 has been sentenced to jail for maximum 10 years, 4 months is a very short period of time. Though President Mahama has the power to grant pardon to trio according to 72 article of 1992 constitution but that is just intended to pardon improved detainees and those wrongfully detained.
