On Tuesday, Ghana pushed adversely towards the appreciation of a long-term development plan that will be binding on following Gov’ts when it declared preparatory work for a 40-year development strategy.
The President Mahama performed the declaration which had in attendance, former President John Agyekum Kufuor and Jerry Rawlings as well as top ranking officials and leaders of political parties, among others.
The strategy’s view was a part of the suggestions by the CRC (Constitutional Review Commission) made in 2010.
The CRC suggested, among other things, that the strategy must be national in nature and should be district and region-specific.
The strategy which is viewed as possibly the best solution to the development issues that face the country is very flexible because they’ve set up indicators and goals to determine whether the country is making progress or not, said by Grace Bediako.
Speaking to Media, the former Gov’t statistician expressed that political parties are part of the decision making body, adding, that, the strategy needs them to carry out their declaration.
Moreover, she stated they’ll sustain to invite and engage all concerned political parties to give them the opportunity to take a part in the plan.
Ghana needs to pay off most of its debt to get the plans executed, said by Grace Bediako.
