Mr Wise Chukwudi Letsa, a nutritionist has explained that the Children most favorite diet “Noodles” have high fats and carbohydrates, but lower in fiber, proteins, vitamins and minerals essential for the growth of children.
Around the globe Noodles are classified as junk food due to not providing the six essential nutrients. The carbohydrates contained in them broken down into sugar in the blood and extra sugar stored as fats in the body. Persistent use of noodles raises the bold sugar to dangerous levels, he said.
Mr Lesta further said that excessive fats are the cause of the obesity in children and they grow as obese adults.
This fatness may result in so many health problems in the future for them such as heart diseases, diabetes, infertility, arthritis and stroke, he added.
After the recent BBC report, the sale of Maggi Noodles had banned by authorities in the Indian Capital for 2 weeks after testing them in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh state.
The publication said that the government of India had ordered to test Maggi Noodles Nationwide for growing food safety scares.
In Ghana also noodles are very much beloved by children. Because of their easy to make procedure most parents use it when they are in a hurry and work; mostly children take noodles in their lunch boxes to school.
Mr. Letsa stated that the spices used in noodles preparation contained too much salt, which is supposed to use only one teaspoon daily to remain healthy and prevent blood pressures.
But a small portion of noodles contained salt twice the daily need, he added.
He also said that its preparation includes oil, which is usually unhealthy.
Mr. Letsa recommended homemade healthy and sanitized food for children instead of eating junk food.
He further stimulated parents to teach children basic cooking for their own according to their choice.
He charged the authorities of Ghana to check the noodle being sold in the country just like India to avoid any future health problems.
