Aggreko plc to construct power plant
Aggreko plc, a Scottish power producing firm has secured a provisional licence from the EC Energy Commission to develop a power plant at Esiama in the Ellembelle.
The company has already needed a 27 acre property at Esiama from the traditional authorities, it signed a Gas Supply Agreement with the GNGC Ghana National Gas Company to supply them gas for the electrical power generation in the next twelve months.
Head of Business Development of Aggreko in charge of Africa, Mr. Jason De Carteret told a stakeholders meeting at the Esiama that the company would primarily produce between 40 and 50 megawatts power, and increase the production of over 100 megawatts in the subsequent years.
He described that the firm will utilize the excess natural gas resources from the Jubilee Oilfield as the Atuabo gas processing plant to make the company able the country derive maximum advantages by increasing the overall power capacity of the country in cost-efficient manner.
He said that over the past two years the Aggreko plc. had been working behind the scenes for the development of the power plants after fulfilling the primary requirements, including the integration of a local subsidiary in the country.
Mr. Carteret assured the land owners, farmers and community members, whose properties had been affected by the appreciable compensation project.
