Nigeria continues their unbeaten run at the 2015 African Youth Championship, when they brushed aside Group B runners-up, Ghana, 2-0 in the first semi-final at the Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor in Dakar, Senegal on Wednesday.
The team that loses to Mali in their last group game looks off-color against the six times champions, with Ghanaian coach Sellas Tetteh made three changes in this game.
The 2009 edition champions recalled Joseph Adjei and Benjamin Tetteh after resting them against Mali, and also give chance to debutant Berekum Chelsea’s Michael Sai after replacing him with Mutawakilu Seidu.
Nigeria Flying Eagles opened the scoring in the 23rd minute of play, thanks to Obinna Nwobodo of Enugu Rangers with a header.
Although Black Satellites responded well, but Nigeria doubles their lead with a strike from Musa Mohammed just 10 minutes to the close of the game.
The Ghanaian coach brought in Samuel Tetteh for Asiedu Attobrah and Hasaacas’ striker Samuel Afful to replace Clifford Aboagye, but it was not enough to stop Nigeria reaching the final after four years.
Ghana Black Satellites will now meet the loser between Mali and host Senegal in the third-place match, while the winner of that game will take on Nigeria in the final of the 2015 African Youth Championship.
