A global study has revealed that, Ghana is between the top ten countries with the best diet in all across the World. Ghana ranked sixth in the study which, search for to measure the quality of foods in the world.
The Study revealed by The Lancet Global health journal, evaluated the quality of food in 197 Countries and find out a rise in consumption of vegetables and food around the world.
Overall the countries with the best diets were Sierra Leone, Chad, Gambia, Mali, Ghana, Uganda, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Somalia and Israel.
Those countries who counted for unhealthy diets were Slovakia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Czech Republic, a Chinese province, Heilongjiang, Belarus, Iceland, Iceland, Russia and USA.
A team of international researchers looked at the changes in diet between 1990 and 2010 in each country all over the world. After looking three different diet patterns and then gave each a score.
The first one was based on the ten healthy food diets including beans, fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts, all grains, total polyunsaturated fatty acids, milk, fish, dietary fibre and omega-3s.
The 2nd one was based on seven unhealthy food items such as unprocessed meats, processed meats, sugar-sweetened drinks, saturated fat, Trans fat, salt and dietary cholesterol.
The third one was a whole diet pattern based on all seventeen food groups.
Researchers measured differences by the age, sex, country and national income and they gave every country score between: 0 to 100
They searched that the high income countries ate more healthy diets than low income countries.
According to the study, on average, women and older people seem to eat better diets.
